小型基因组测序(≤ 5 Mb)涉及对细菌、病毒或其他微生物的整个基因组进行测序,并将序列与已知参考序列进行比较。小型微生物基因组的测序对公共卫生领域的食品检测、传染性疾病监控、分子流行病学研究和环境宏基因组学很有用。
